Diners at Toot’s restaurant on Broad will help provide Christmas for 25 at-risk children during the Shop with the Sheriff drive from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Sheriff Robert Arnold and school resource officers will explain to diners how donations will give each child a chance to shop for Christmas presents they might not have otherwise.
“We appreciate all the generous citizens who allow these children to experience the joy of Christmas,” said Sheriff Arnold. “We could not do this without the support of Toot’s and the customers.”
Rachel Hunter, general manager of Toot’s on Broad Street, offered to host the fund-raiser.
“We have to help these babies have a merry Christmas,” Hunter said.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy, who coordinates the program, said SROs work with the Rutherford County Schools to select elementary school students to shop.
“Our wish is we want these children to have a wonderful Christmas,” Sgt. Cassidy said.
The children will enjoy breakfast at Shoney’s restaurant, get pictures taken with Santa by Shacklett’s Photography and shop with Sheriff Robert Arnold and school resource officers at Kmart.
Checks may also be sent to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office at 940 New Salem Highway, Murfreesboro, 37129. Shop with the Sheriff should be written on the check.
