The City of Murfreesboro purchased the former First United Methodist Church property from Franklin Synergy Bank for $1.55 million in order to guide future development and help preserve at least a portion of the historic structure. City staff has solicited advice from several developers to brainstorm potential ideas for the site but no formal bid process has been conducted. A preliminary architectural and structural analysis of the sanctuary must still be developed.
Public comment from the chalkboard and other sources will be utilized to inform the process of how best to preserve the historic structure and location for future development.
