Middle Tennessee’s Ebony Rowe was selected as the @NCAAWomensBKBPlayer of the Week, marking her fourth honor this week. The award is chosen by the NCAA office and distributed on its selected social media outlets.
On Monday, Rowe was tabbed the Conference USA Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness High-Major Player of the Week. Also on Tuesday, Rowe was selected as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week for the eighth time in her career.
Rowe averaged a double-double through the three-game tournament, putting up 22.7 points and grabbing 12 rebounds per game. She finished the weekend with 68 points, 36 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and three steals. Rowe made 63.4-percent from the field on her way to being named Gulf Coast Showcase MVP.
The Naismith and Wade Watch List candidate managed 15 points and 12 rebounds in MT’s 88-71 thrashing of Southeastern Louisiana. On Saturday, Rowe followed that performance by matching a season-high 28 points with 11 rebounds and a career-best four blocks. Her 10 consecutive points in the second half against the Lady Lions carried MT to the Gulf Coast Showcase title game, where the Blue Raiders claimed the inaugural championship title with a 62-48 victory over Mississippi State. Against Mississippi State, Rowe once again dominated by shooting 69-percent from the field (9-of-13), while scoring 25 points and pulling in 13 rebounds.
On the season, Rowe is leading the Raiders with 22.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. The Lexington, Ky., native has five double-doubles this season with 58 in her career.
