New Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has made the final additions to his first coaching staff.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – New Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has made the final additions to his first coaching staff.
On Tuesday, the Titans announced the hiring of Matt Edwards (Assistant Special Teams), Scott Booker (Defensive Assistant), Ryan Crow (Defensive Assistant) and Matt Pees (Quality Control).
Additionally, Mike Sullivan and Luke Steckel will remain on the staff as offensive assistants.Earlier, Vrabel hired Matt LaFleur (offense), Dean Pees (defense) and Craig Aukerman (special teams) as his three coordinators, and in recent weeks hired position coaches around them.
The last wave rounds out Vrabel’s staff. Vrabel was hired last month as the team’s new head coach.
Edwards joins the Titans after spending 15 years of coaching in the college ranks, including the last four seasons (2014-17) at Tiffin University as defensive coordinator. Prior to that, Edwards coached defensive line and was the special teams coordinator at Florida Atlantic. He’s also spent time at Miami (Ohio), Kent State and the College of Wooster.
Crow enters his first NFL season after spending seven seasons in the college coaching ranks. Crow was a graduate assistant last season at Ohio State, working primarily with linebackers. Crow previously spent three seasons at Baldwin Wallace University working with the offensive line in 2014, and as offensive coordinator/offensive line coach from 2015-16. He’s also spent time at Purdue.Booker is a 15-year college coaching veteran, with his most recent stop at Nebraska, where he coached safeties and special teams last season. He also coached seven years (2010-16) at Notre Dame, working as tight ends and special teams coordinator from 2012-16. He was the secondary coach at Western Kentucky in 2009. Booker played and coached under Pees, when Pees was the head coach at Kent State.
Matt Pees, son of Dean Pees, brings five years of high school coaching experience to the Titans. Most recently, he was the head coach at Green Mountain High School (Colorado) for two years (2016-17), after joining the staff as an assistant coach in 2014. Pees also spent one season (2005) as an assistant coach at Ridgemont HS (Ohio). As a student at Kent State, he logged two years (2002-03) assisting the football staff as a video coordinator.
